In an ideal world, individuals would be elected because of their ability and character, not because of gender, religion or ill-fitting political affiliations. Any Democrat is no better or worse or more trustworthy than any Republican. One has to earn trust and respect based on one’s words and deeds, not be granted it just because of some politically expedient label.
I’ve known petty, judgmental Christians and loving, accepting Atheists. I’ve known morons that were Democrats and brilliant Republicans. A person’s value cannot be captured simply by attaching a name to them.
I long for the day when we can get past both political and religious dogmas and look to what’s truly best for the entire country and the world at large.
